Lisa S. Ball, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, DCNPLisa S. Ball, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, DCNP, is a PhD-educated, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse holding board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner. This is just a fancy way of saying she has earned the highest degree in nursing possible, practiced many years as a nurse practitioner taking care of patients of all ages, focused much of her practice specifically in dermatology, and has been tested a lot along the way!
Dr. Ball earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada; and her graduate degrees, including her PhD, Masters of Science in the Family Nurse Practitioner program, and Post-Masters Certificate in Nursing Education from the University at Buffalo, New York; and a Post-Masters Certificate in Dermatology from the National Academy of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners. She is a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner who maintains active membership in various professional organizations and remains current in the field by regularly participating in dermatology education opportunities throughout the year.
Dr. Ball’s professional achievements include work on various innovative clinical and research endeavors, scholarly poster presentations, publications, and funded grants and awards. She most recently authored two dermatologic chapters in Lippincott’s Manual for Nursing Practice for the last two editions. From her practice to her education to her profession and beyond, she continues to enjoy a breadth of experiences as a clinician, educator, and scholar and maintains that relating to, teaching, and partnering with patients are central to her practice philosophy. Based on her experience and philosophy, she provides a personalized approach to managing dermatologic concerns for patients of all ages.
Melissa Sicurella, DNP, FNP-BC
Melissa Sicurella, DNP, FNP-BC is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with specialty training in dermoscopy. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University at Buffalo where she focused on bringing the latest evidence-based science to improve patient and clinical outcomes. She also graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from St. John Fisher University.
With battling eczema since she was 2 years old, she has struggled with her skin trialing numerous topical and systemic therapies throughout the years. Understanding skin health from a personal and professional perspective shaped her to empower patients to help them feel more comfortable and confident in their own skin. She strives to enhance patients’ knowledge, attitudes, and understanding of the skin, hair, and nails including the latest, researched-based therapies. She stresses individualized, compassionate, and comprehensive care to patients across the lifespan experiencing various dermatological conditions
Melissa is passionate about continuing education and learning about the latest advances in the dermatology field to help patients achieve their goals. She has attended such conferences as the American Dermoscopy Meeting, the Cleveland Clinic Medical Dermatology Therapy Update II, the South Beach Symposium Medical and Aesthetic Dermatology Conference, and the Society of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners National Conference.
Melissa is born and raised in Buffalo, NY. Residing with her husband and dog, Oscar. Catch her walking her dog at various parks in the area or on the pickleball court. She enjoys cheering on the Buffalo Bills as a season ticket holder and even attends away games on her quest to visit every NFL stadium.
Allison Lindquist, DNP, FNP-BC
Allison Lindquist, DNP, FNP-BCAllison Lindquist, DNP, FNP-BC is proud to be the newest board-certified family nurse practitioner to join the team. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University at Buffalo, and a Bachelor’s degree from Niagara University. Dr. Lindquist has specialty training in dermoscopy and has a strong clinical focus in medical dermatology.
Dr. Lindquist is committed to providing evidence-based care and staying current with advancements in dermatological treatments. She is passionate about educating patients of all ages on skin health, and takes an integrative approach, combining conventional therapies with individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s specific skin conditions. Her clinical interests include acne treatment and skin cancer prevention, areas in which she has a personal connection due to her own experiences and strong family history of skin cancer. Understanding the unique challenges of living with fair, freckled, sun-sensitive skin, she emphasizes the importance of sun protection and skin education.
Outside of her professional role, Dr. Lindquist enjoys hiking, weightlifting, going to concerts, cooking and baking, buying new houseplants and spending quality time with family and friends.
She is an active member of The Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State, and has attended numerous professional conferences, including the American Dermoscopy Meeting, the Integrative Dermatology Symposium, and the Society of Dermatology Nurse Practitioners National Conference. She has also completed a comprehensive training course in dermatological care, with a focus on both conventional and complementary medical models, titled “Dermatology: Clinical and Integrative Essentials.”
Lauren Paella, Registered Nurse
Lauren Paella is a certified laser nurse with over 25 years of experience in general dermatology. Since 1998, she has specialized in treatment for laser hair removal. She has successfully treated thousands of patients over the years with skin tones ranging from fair to dark. She strives to create a pleasant, professional environment for patients to achieve their goals.
Jamie Popp, Aesthetician
Jamie Popp, AestheticianJamie Popp is a licensed medical aesthetician with years of advanced training and experience. She obtained her education at The Salon Professional Academy for Esthetics in Tonawanda, NY. She is extensively trained in all aspects of basic and advanced skincare.
